Much awaited first draft of NRC published names of 1.9 crore people
On Monday, the first draft of much anticipated NRC, i.e. National Register of Citizens issued the names of 1.9 crore people among 3.29 total contenders in Assam recognizing them as the legal citizens of India. Mr. Sailesh, Registrar General of India, alleged that the remaining names are under many stages of verifications.
He supposed that ‘ this is the part draft and t comprises 1.9 crore people names that have been verified till now. The remaining names are under many stages of verifications. We will definitely come out with another draft as soon as the verification process is completed’.
Prateek Hajela, NRC State Coordinator, alleged that people whose names have been excluded in the initial list should not worry. He said that ‘it is a tedious process to verify names and there is a possibility that several names within a single family may not be there in it. So there is no need to panic as remaining documents are under verification processes.’
On asking about the timeframe regarding the next draft, RGI supposed that it would be decided and confirmed as per the plan and order of Supreme Court. It’s under their monitoring the document has been prepared and its next hearing in April. Total process will be finished in 2018 as per the wordings of Mr. Sailesh.
Mr. Hajela alleged that ‘ the procedure of accepting complaints will commence once the final draft is published as remaining names are certain to appear in that ‘.
The NRC is being updated for the primary time subsequent to 1951 with the primary objective of those who may enter the state from Bangladesh following to 25th March 1971. It was the sensitive matter that led to the movement by state’s indigenous pole in the 1080s. The majority of people fear an unabated invasion which has been going to close for a century is a danger to State’s identity.
Security has been tightened all over the Assam state as anxiety and worry regarding the violence by people whose name does not appear in the first draft. Till Monday there were no reports of violence in the state. In the state Muslims are in worry regarding their names will be included in the list or not.
Mukesh Sahay, Assam director general of police, told media ‘ however we will vigilant for few days. Since the draft was released online and it will acquire few days for people to reach NRC office for physical verification to confirm their names in the first list’.
This physical verification had been started at more than 4200 NRC centers crosswise Assam. Next to the online as well as physical verifications procedure till 1st January, Contenders can send text messages or can also call at the helpline number which is on the list.
Samujjal Bhattacharya AASU adviser supposed that ‘ we are delighted that the initial draft of NRC has been published as it was the much predictable dream of all indigenous Assamese.
