Currently, the salary per month is 1,50,000 a month. But very recently the Government of India has decided to give a 200 percent hike in the present salary, which will be 5,00,000 a month. The decision was taken after the 7th pay commission and the government realized that the cabinet secretary draws a higher salary than the president. The last hike was given in the year 2008.

It is set in an area of 19,000 square meters and with 340 rooms, it is the largest residence of any head of the state in the world. This grand and magnificent piece of architecture was built by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker.  More than 200 people have been appointed to look after this majestic palace.

For leisure holiday retreat, the president can stay in “The Retreat building” at Mashobra in Shimla. The location and the beautiful environment make it an attractive tourist destination. It was originally constructed in the year 1850.

There is another building at Bolarum in Hyderabad. It’s huge and builds in an area of 90 acres. The president conducts official meetings and visits at least once a year.

The president can use their own personal car, but the expense will be borne by the government. Apart from this free travel by air or train will be given.
